NASA updates Moon-landing plans and addresses the Orion issue. NASA has detailed revised Artemis lunar-landing architectures targeting astronaut missions as early as 2028. Under the plan, Orion would dock with SpaceX’s Starship lander in high Earth orbit, while Blue Origin’s approach would use four New Glenn launches without spacecraft-to-spacecraft refueling.

NASA shifts Orion to taxi duty while Starship hauls it from high Earth orbit to the Moon, reviving the 1962 Earth Orbit Rendezvous idea. Blue Moon still needs four New Glenn launches but avoids risky in-space refueling. If Artemis III proves the handoff, expect SLS roles to shrink after 2030.

Mila and federal researchers build AI tool for wildfire prediction. Mila and Natural Resources Canada have developed an AI wildfire model designed to estimate burn probability, spread and intensity across Canada. Mila says the system runs 800 to 3,400 times faster than NRCan’s BurnP3+ simulator while delivering approximations researchers describe as high fidelity.

OpenAI scales storage for more than 1 billion ChatGPT users. In the second part of its infrastructure update, OpenAI said its Habitat application-storage platform now delivers millisecond-scale data access for more than 1 billion users across 40 geographic regions. The company highlighted Azure Cosmos DB optimizations intended to support growth, reliability, new product use cases and global performance.

OpenAI is using Azure Cosmos DB optimizations to deliver millisecond-scale Habitat access for more than 1 billion users across 40 regions. The test is whether new product use cases retain that performance as usage grows.

Canada unveils proposed stablecoin regulations. Canada has published proposed regulations for its Stablecoin Act, opening a 60-day consultation before the framework can take effect. The proposed regime would govern stablecoin payment use cases, while issuers and platforms could still face oversight from both the Bank of Canada and Canadian securities regulators.

Circle and Tether are best positioned to benefit: possible Bank of Canada and securities-regulator oversight raises fixed compliance costs, favoring USDC’s $30B and USDT’s $70B floats. The test is whether the 60-day consultation narrows dual oversight.

The data centre next door. Residents in Newport, south Wales, are contesting the construction and local impact of a 23-metre hyperscale data centre near their homes. The report captures the tension between promises of job creation and concerns over lost views, disruption and the energy demands of AI data-centre expansion.

23-metre data centre opposition is positioned to outweigh job-creation claims at Newport’s next planning decision unless lost views, construction disruption and power demand are directly mitigated.

AI-found PHP vulnerabilities trigger a global cybersecurity response. The BBC reports that researchers using AI identified long-undetected vulnerabilities in PHP, a server-side language used across a large share of the web. The findings prompted governments, agencies and platform operators to assess potential exposure to exploitation.

75% of websites run PHP; the defensible conclusion is broad exposure assessment, not a forecast of turnkey exploit kits. The test is whether governments, agencies and platform operators identify exploitable deployments.

Remibrutinib outperforms teriflunomide in relapsing multiple sclerosis. Two randomized Phase 3 trials found that remibrutinib was superior to teriflunomide for relapsing multiple sclerosis while maintaining a favorable safety profile, according to The Lancet. The findings position remibrutinib as a potential new oral treatment option for the condition.

Novartis has a credible oral MS challenger after two Phase 3 REMODEL trials showed remibrutinib reduced relapse activity more than teriflunomide with comparable safety. The test is whether it files in 2027.
