Muse Spark Open. Meta released the weights for Muse Spark Open, an 816-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts multimodal model with 42 billion active parameters and a one-million-token context window. Built for coding and agentic work, Meta says it can run locally on two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios through the MLX framework.

Meta’s two-M5-Ultra claim is credible only if MLX users independently run Muse Spark Open locally at its advertised one-million-token context for coding and agentic work. Watch for those results by year-end.

Anthropic courts investors ahead of a listing. Anthropic told prospective investors that revenue rose 45% to $16.8 billion in the quarter ended September, according to the BBC, as it prepares for an expected stock-market debut. The company also highlighted its safety work while making the case that rapid revenue growth can support the heavy cost of frontier AI development.

NVIDIA releases Nemotron 3.5 Super VL. Nvidia released Nemotron 3.5 Super VL, an open 120-billion-parameter multimodal mixture-of-experts model with 12 billion active parameters and a one-million-token context window. The release includes NVFP4 weights designed to run on a single DGX Spark, plus two smaller Bolt models for edge use.

NVIDIA splits deployment by scale: NVFP4 runs the 120B-parameter, 12B-active Nemotron 3.5 Super VL on one DGX Spark, while Bolt is its smaller edge line. Watch for NVFP4 Bolt weights by 2027.

EverWind plans a C$10 billion Nova Scotia data-centre campus. EverWind announced more than C$10 billion in privately financed investment for a Point Tupper data-centre campus and renewable-energy portfolio across Nova Scotia. The company called it the province’s largest proposed investment and said the development is intended to protect electricity ratepayers and water resources.

EverWind’s C$10 billion Point Tupper proposal bets dedicated renewable generation can make hyperscale growth viable in Nova Scotia. The next project disclosure should show whether ratepayer and water protections are embedded in the plan, not merely promised.

Proofpoint to buy Varonis for $6.3 billion. Proofpoint agreed to acquire data-security company Varonis Systems in an all-cash deal valued at roughly $6.3 billion. The combination brings together Proofpoint’s people-focused email and phishing defenses with Varonis’s data-mapping, permissions and enterprise data-use tools.

3C merges with Datalec to build a full-service data-centre platform. Liquid-cooling infrastructure provider 3C merged with UK-based Datalec Precision Installations to form 3C Datalec. The combined company brings together cooling, engineering, construction and operations capabilities, with facilities planned for Calgary, Austin and Warsaw.

3C Datalec plans Calgary, Austin, Warsaw builds, yet grid slack is the real choke. A combined 450 MW draw matches a small steel mill and would swallow 20% of Alberta's ~2 GW spare and 10% of ERCOT's 4 GW cushion. Without new lines by 2028, power access, not cooling, sets the cap.

BeyondTrust patches a zero-day exploited since August. BeyondTrust has patched a critical vulnerability in its Remote Support product that it says attackers had exploited in zero-day attacks since late August. The disclosure means a widely used privileged remote-administration tool was exposed for an extended period before a fix became available.

BeyondTrust’s patch closes a critical Remote Support flaw exploited since late August, making it an incident-response priority rather than a routine update. Watch for organizations to uncover exposure or intrusion activity dating to late August.

A new approach to high blood pressure, through the ear. Researchers at Queen Mary University of London tested a noninvasive ear-based nerve-stimulation device in people whose hypertension remained uncontrolled despite medication. Published in Hypertension, the study found the home-use treatment was safe and feasible, positioning auricular neuromodulation as an early-stage adjunct for resistant blood-pressure management.

Queen Mary University of London’s pilot supports home ear-clip stimulation as a safe, feasible adjunct—not an efficacy breakthrough—for the 1 in 8 hypertensives still uncontrolled. In the next study, watch for a sustained blood-pressure reduction.

Polymarket logged $600 million in post-election trades. Two election markets on Polymarket’s offshore platform recorded more than $600 million in trading volume after the relevant elections had ended. Much of that activity involved contracts tied to long-shot candidates who did not win, raising fresh questions about whether prediction-market volume reliably reflects sentiment or price discovery.

Polymarket’s $600M in post-election volume shows headline trading can be speculative churn, not voter sentiment or price discovery. By year-end, watch whether regulators demand separate disclosure of post-election trading.

SMCI’s 4.6% drop versus Consumer Staples’ 1.1% gain signals a shift away from AI hardware risk. Nvidia’s 80% GPU grip limits server-builder margin upside; the test is whether SMCI’s Q3 book confirms that pressure.
