Anthropic Reports $16.8 Billion in Third-Quarter Revenue. Anthropic said third-quarter revenue reached $16.8 billion, up 45%, during an investor meeting as it prepares for a potential initial public offering as soon as next month. The figures position Anthropic among the largest commercial AI businesses and establish a new benchmark for frontier-model revenue growth.

Anthropic’s $16.8 billion third quarter makes a potential IPO as soon as next month a test of whether revenue disclosed after the third quarter still supports 45% growth at this scale.

Schools Push Back on Potential E-Rate Cuts. The Federal Communications Commission is considering whether to limit or sunset E-Rate, the roughly $2 billion annual program that subsidizes telecommunications services and equipment for schools and libraries. School districts and libraries across the United States have urged the agency to abandon the proposal, following Chairman Brendan Carr’s criticism of the program’s expansion and student screen time.

Brendan Carr’s criticism positions the FCC to limit E-Rate’s expansion, not end the roughly $2 billion program outright. School and library opposition makes a sunset less likely; watch for the FCC’s next decision to distinguish targeted limits from a full phaseout.

North.cloud Raises $60 Million for AI Spend Management. North.cloud raised a $60 million Series B led by PeakSpan Capital to expand software for managing cloud infrastructure, AI-model usage and data-platform costs. The financing reflects growing demand for unified cost controls as production AI workloads combine hyperscale compute, model API consumption and data-processing charges.

North.cloud’s spend dashboards dodge the real choke point. AI clusters now pull 150-1000MW, a single 500MW site can eat 10% of the US grid’s remaining 5GW headroom through 2026. If utilities ration new taps, cost tools matter less than power contracts. Watch CFOs pivot from FinOps to PPAs by 2027.

AdFection Uses Targeted Ads to Deliver Spyware. Citizen Lab reported that Israeli firm Discover-Tech used targeted online advertising to direct devices to mercenary spyware infrastructure without requiring a click. The researchers said the operation, called AdFection, compromised devices at Al Jazeera and linked Discover-Tech to spyware partners including Candiru.

Discover-Tech’s alleged AdFection campaign makes ad-tech controls an endpoint-security concern. The test over the next year is whether Citizen Lab links another spyware operation to targeted ads or to Discover-Tech or Candiru infrastructure.

ACC Calls Exercise a Core Part of Heart Care. An American College of Cardiology scientific statement published in JACC calls for exercise to be treated as a foundational component of cardiovascular-disease prevention and treatment. The statement frames physical activity as a core clinical intervention rather than an adjunct to cardiovascular care.

ACC’s JACC statement makes exercise a benchmark for cardiovascular prevention and treatment, not a lifestyle sidebar. Over the next 24 months, the test is whether heart-care plans explicitly classify exercise as a core clinical intervention.

U.K. Sanctions Cryptomus Over Russian Money Laundering Claims. The United Kingdom imposed economic sanctions on Cryptomus, formerly known as Certa Payments and Xeltox Enterprises, alleging the cryptocurrency payment platform processed transactions benefiting the Russian government and financial institutions. The measures freeze any Cryptomus assets held in UK banks and prohibit UK entities from providing services to it; VexPay, TokenSpot and Tsunami Payments were also sanctioned.

Cryptomus’s UK sanctions mark crypto payment platforms as a choke point for Russian ransomware cashouts, not merely intermediaries. The test by year-end is whether the asset freeze and service ban yield evidence of disrupted Russian-linked flows.

Markets Rotate Out of Tech. The S&P 500 fell 0.3% and the Nasdaq 100 declined 1.3%, while the Dow Jones gained 0.6% and the Russell 2000 rose 0.7%, with small caps leading. Healthcare gained 2.4% as Technology fell 2.2%; SMCI dropped 7.4%, AMD fell 6.1% and Tesla declined 3.1%.

SMCI’s 7.4% slide signals money rotating out of the crowded AI hardware trade and into cash-flow-rich healthcare, which jumped 2.4%. Small caps gained 0.7% on the same pivot. If rates stay firm, expect further profit-taking across high-multiple tech.
