Valor and Point72 back General Intuition at a $6B valuation. General Intuition is reportedly discussing a funding round at a $6 billion pre-money valuation, with Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures, and Seven Seven Six among potential new investors. The Medal spinout is building large action models trained on hundreds of millions of hours of gameplay footage and player-input labels for agents that operate across space and time.

General Intuition’s $6B valuation is a wager that gameplay data—not robot logs—can be the cheaper route to spatial agents. Its hundreds of millions of labeled play hours are the asset; the test is whether models trained on them operate beyond gameplay.

IBM’s next-gen mainframe chip runs Arm and Z workloads on the same cores. IBM unveiled a future mainframe processor designed to natively execute IBM Z and Arm instruction sets on shared cores, switching between them in nanoseconds. The chip is intended for future IBM Z and LinuxONE systems, bringing Arm-native Linux software and AI frameworks alongside z/OS transaction-processing workloads.

Instinct’s AI assistant raises privacy and security concerns. Instinct, a private-access AI assistant operated by Spear Street Technology, is drawing scrutiny for the breadth of access it requests, including email, messaging, calendars, device audio, location, and screens. Testers have also raised questions about its security model and terms of service while the product remains in limited testing.

Claude Tag can now read full Slack conversations. Anthropic updated its Slack-based Claude Tag agent to assess full conversation context instead of evaluating messages individually. Anthropic said the change improved its ability to determine when to respond unprompted by about 30%, moving the product closer to a proactive team assistant.

Anthropic’s 30% gain turns Claude Tag into a Slack triage layer, not just a chat tool: full context decides whether it speaks. Watch within 30 days for evidence that its unprompted replies outperform message-by-message intervention.

Hugging Face is reportedly in talks to be acquired for $13B. The AI-model platform has reportedly been approached about a sale valued at $13 billion or more and is consulting banks to assess potential bids. No buyer or agreement has been identified; Hugging Face was last valued at $4.5 billion post-money in its 2023 financing round.

Hugging Face’s $13B sale talk is a valuation-reset attempt, seeking nearly 3x its 2023 mark despite no named bidder. Watch for a named buyer or bid by year-end 2026; without one, $13B remains an asking price, not a market value.

The physical backbone of AI: compute, data centers, supply chains, and the geopolitics of energy

Lancium and NVIDIA partner on gigawatt-scale AI factories. Lancium announced a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA to deploy NVIDIA’s AI-factory stack across Lancium campuses, while NVIDIA also took an equity stake in the Texas energy-infrastructure company. Lancium says it has 4 gigawatts of leased power capacity and a pipeline exceeding 15 gigawatts of powered land, including the Abilene campus tied to the Stargate buildout.

Lancium’s 4GW booking drains four-fifths of the 5GW US grid slack earmarked for hyperscale through 2026. That load equals power for 3 M homes. If NVIDIA locks it in, competitors will scramble abroad or pay peak-price power by 2027.

Nvidia manager linked to an alleged AI-server smuggling scheme. Taiwanese prosecutors indicted nine people accused of forging documents to conceal exports of high-end AI servers to China in violation of U.S. export controls. The suspects reportedly include an Nvidia senior manager and two Supermicro employees; charges include breach of trust and document forgery.

Nvidia’s exposure is reputational, not yet proof of corporate culpability: Taiwanese prosecutors indicted nine people, including a senior manager and two Supermicro employees, over alleged forged export documents. The test is whether charges extend beyond the nine indicted.

Too much or too little sleep may accelerate biological aging. A Columbia University analysis using 23 biological-aging clocks found the lowest aging measurements among people reporting roughly 6.4 to 7.8 hours of daily sleep. Both shorter and longer sleep were associated with faster biological aging across multiple organ systems and with conditions involving the brain, cardiovascular system, metabolism, and more.

Columbia’s 23-clock analysis argues against single sleep targets: the lowest aging measures clustered at 6.4–7.8 hours, while both extremes tracked faster aging. The test by 2027 is whether wellness tools disclose this range rather than one benchmark.

A second crypto executive has reportedly gone missing. The New York Times reports that the successor to a cryptocurrency executive who disappeared four years ago has also gone missing amid the collapse of a European crypto exchange. The case, involving operations connected to Poland and Estonia, highlights continuing criminality and governance failures in parts of the digital-asset sector.

New York Times reporting puts Poland-Estonia oversight to a clear test: identify who controlled customer custody after the exchange collapse. Without that, the second disappearance leaves customers without recourse; watch for an official finding within four years.

Markets Down. The S&P 500 fell 0.2%, Nasdaq 100 dropped 0.7%, and Russell 2000 declined 0.6%, while the Dow Jones gained 0.3%. Consumer Staples led the market at +1.3% as Technology lagged at -1.3%; SMCI fell 5.0%, COIN dropped 3.1%, and AMD declined 3.0%.

SMCI’s 5.0% drop, Technology’s 1.3% decline, and Staples’ 1.3% gain show a one-session rotation from AI-linked risk, not a broad selloff: the Dow gained 0.3%. The test is whether 10-year yields stay above 4% into Q3.
